All the Fun of the Fair

Spun in sweet pink cotton candy,
she giggled like a girl;
let him twirl her round and round,
this way and that –
he bought her a hat.

It didn’t really suit her
but she wore it anyway;
it seemed to please him,
so she thought,
until the day he went away.

So she wrapped herself
in cellophane,
and sits waiting on the shelf,
for someone to hit the coconuts
and claim her for himself.
