I’ve been scribbling all my life but started writing poetry regularly about six years ago. I’m still learning my craft and expect to continue to learn for as long as I’m writing. I have cut my poetic teeth on critique groups, had a spell as a moderator on an American poetry website and also as an admin on the Facial Expression Poetry Circle. I’ve been involved with the dVerse Poets Pub, contributing an article to the Meeting the Bar: Critique and Craft feature and helping out on the critique team.
I’m fairly nocturnal, I often write until the wee small hours of the day and then get up early to go do the job that pays the bills. I’m a Learning and Development Adviser with the local authority – I love my job but it’s my bread and butter – poetry is my oxygen, it allows me to breathe. I write anywhere and everywhere; I once wrote a poem on a beach cave wall and had to go back the next day with a pen and paper to transcribe it. These days I carry a notebook and pen.
