Arianrhod

Arianrhod

We walk at night my girl and I
and talk of life and love’s sweet ache,
beneath a silver dusted sky.

Half-summoned by the nightjar’s cry,
uncertain of which path to take,
we walk at night my girl and I,

unhook and take apart the lie,
unravel every dark mistake,
beneath a silver dusted sky.

Answers sought in every sigh,
curiosity’s thirst to slake,
we walk at night my girl and I,

discarding every alibi,
false promises we now forsake
beneath a silver dusted sky

Despite nocturnal lovers’ cry,
soft-sullen moon upon the lake,
we walk at night my girl and I
beneath a silver dusted sky.

Trickle

3243451667_051c2ae22e_n

She runs a bath to break the silence,
watched only by a silver-framed
sullen moon.

They sit, at opposite ends
of a warm thought, until words
tumble into soft vanilla light.

Her back moulded to his chest,
he washes her hair, long fingers
untangling caffles.

Intimacy lifts the grey weight
of the day, her transient relief
trickling unseen.

She lives in the woods,
my wild-eyed girl,
soft-spun beneath skies
of bluegrass dew,

unbound, unwound from the
grey cotton spool,
spinning in prisms
of liberty’s light.

I’ve begged her come home
to tangle her bones
in the threadbare bed
of the sullen moon

but she’ll not leave the breeze
of the trees’ hushed bloom
or the shift of the river’s
sweet-petalled scent.

So I dance in the woods
with my wild-eyed girl,
soft-spun beneath skies
of bluegrass dew

until dusk’s last dance
returns me alone
to the threadbare bed
of the sullen moon.

Satellite

‘Satellite’s gone up to the skies, things like that drive me out of my mind’ – ‘Satellite of Love’ ~ Lou Reed

She follows him home; fishbone-white, shedding the light of her acne-scarred face, as he runs through the grass, the trees and the fields, fear at his heels, a malignant sprite.

Camouflage clouds aid her quest, unquestionable zest in her obsessive flight. Thorns tear at his clothes, brambles at face, no matter the pace and refusal to rest, there seems no escape from this hellion possessed.

Though crepuscular abalone clings to his core, his door in sight – he’s outrun the whore. Gasping for breath, lifts himself from the floor, runs to the window, his god he implores,

but she’s followed him home; fishbone-white, shedding the light of her acne-scarred face. Where peace once dwelled and life was hope-laced, paranoia lays waste and defeat takes its place.

Sunrise over the Pharmacy

Nursing caffeine;
yawning,

watching Belenus
fight Arianrhod
for space in the sky,

realisation
dawning –

her only blithe warrior
the little white lie
she allows to slipslide

down her throat
each morning.
