Forest-of-One-Single-Star

On a starless night,
no telescope to hand,
there you were,

a tiny speck of light
in a canopy of ink,
and now I find myself

wondering
‘What would it take
for you to cross the sky?’

Commune

Apart ++circling for days, delicious possibility
++++++pirouetting the moor, saturating
++++++the floor of our thudding ache.

Closer ++soft reservations trickle
++++++between sun-bleached pebbles;
++++++feeble saltwater restraint.

Shaking +sharing a last shallow breath,
++++++the ground tips, slipping us,
++++++defenceless, into a reckless sky.

Kinesthesia

sink
through skin

blistering scrape
of wintered limbs
across sky

tight twist
of wet tongues
curling
between fingers

tide-clattered barnacles
popping
against craggy bones

crawl in-
side
quilting
uterine serene

taste it
from the rubbery floor

smell it hear it feel it fuck it

push
metal barbs
back
through the membrane

scrawl
on unstaunched walls

lilting crimson script
still glistening
smeared
across the beam

Leaving

Evening rinses sienna walls
as ochre liqueur slips down the throat
of a cerulean sky.

Tuscan day peels away,
cool autumn air blushing
ripe opalescent domes.

Green marble memories
drift from the square,
laced with incense and incantations.

Quietly,
she tears a corner
from each creamy vellum page,

lingering over the tattered scraps,
before tucking them between the stones
of the worn umber streets.
