Helios and other bedfellows

bed3

We wake to sunshine;

not the bland lemony light
that fingers blonde venetians,

but a fizzing mirrorball,
blistering
between linens,

livid,
and white to the touch.

Later,

limbs smouldering
in the ruck of scorched sheets,

fingertips
trace vellum palms,

sifting

for the tender balm
of borrowed verse.

nine lines of loveliness after a week of rain

Paddling swiftly now beyond
deluged days and swollen nights,

ebony umbrellas languish
in hushed oaken hallways,
yesterday’s dolor
puddling monochrome.

In the prism-drenched
meadows of tomorrow
parasols and petticoats twirl.

Heal ~ Triple Haiku

lunar-lit steel sea
recedes towards horizon –
black rock emerges

clean breaks don’t exist
brittle sticks splinter in two –
multiple fractures

rain persists for days
until clouds evaporate –
arched prism ascends
